✨What made you decide cosmetology & go to IIC?
I have always been interested in beauty and making people feel more confident. Cosmetology felt like a career where I could be creative while helping others. I chose IIC because it seemed like a good place to build the skills I need, get hands-on experience, and prepare for my career.
✨My Ah Hah moments in school were (times you realized this is what you should be doing)?
My Ah Hah moments were every time I completed a service and saw how happy and confident it made someone feel; it confirmed that this is what I want to do. Those experiences showed me that cosmetology is the right career path for me because it allows me to be creative while making a positive impact on others
✨Where do you see yourself when you finish school?
When I finish school, I see myself working in a salon where I can continue learning, building my skills, and gaining experience. I want to grow my confidence as a cosmetologist, build a loyal clientele, and become known for providing high-quality services. I also plan to come back to school to earn my eyelash and nail certifications so I can expand the services I offer and continue growing my career. My goal is to build a successful career doing something I enjoy while helping people look and feel their best.
✨What advice would you give someone looking into Cosmetology school?
My advice to someone looking into cosmetology school would be to go for it if they have a passion for beauty and enjoy helping others feel confident. Be prepared to work hard, practice often, and stay patient because developing your skills takes time. Having a “mind over matter” mentality is important—believe in yourself, stay positive, and don’t let mistakes or challenges discourage you. Every experience is an opportunity to learn and improve. Take every chance to learn from your instructors and classmates, ask questions, and stay open to new techniques. The effort and dedication you put into school will help prepare you for a successful career in the beauty industry.

✨What made you decide cosmetology & go to IIC?
I decided on cosmetology because I always found myself playing in my friends hair, I have always been drawn to hair and everything about cosmetology. I have heard through friends that IIC was a great school, I knew some people that went here previously and it inspired me to come here!
✨My Ah Hah moments in school were (times you realized this is what you should be doing)?
An Ah Hah moment would be when I would get nervous to do something on a client, but then I think about it and I have done it a million times on a mannequin, so why am I so nervous?
✨Where do you see yourself when you finish school?
When I finish school, I definitely want to be working in a salon! I want to be able to work in a welcoming environment where I know I will be able to learn so much more from other stylists!
✨What advice would you give someone looking into Cosmetology school?
I would tell an incoming cosmetology student to keep track of their work. Take pictures of everything so when you look back you can see your progress. It will help to show how much you’ve learned and how far you’ve come. I would also say to take the clients and put yourself out there to get more of a feel for everything!
