✨What made you decide cosmetology & go to IIC?
I decided to go to cosmetology school to be able to make people feel good and confident about themselves and I went to International Institute of Cosmetology for its reputation.
✨My Ah Hah moments in school were (Times you realized this is what you should be doing)?
My Ah Hah moment in school was the first time I was able to work on a real person.
✨Where do you see yourself when you finish school?
When I finish school I hope be be able to open my own space to have the flexibility to be able to be a mom and a stylist.
✨What advice would you give someone looking into Cosmetology school?
Advice I would give someone looking into cosmetology school would be to put in as much effort as you want to get out of it.

✨What made you decide cosmetology & go to IIC?
I’ve always loved color. Back in fourth grade, my momma would color my hair with Kool-Aid. By the eighth grade, I finally convinced her to let me go full red so I could be Poison Ivy for Halloween. My momma has always said “I have a creative imagination—even as an adult”—and what better way to use that creativity than by coloring hair? I chose IIC because it was beautiful. When I walked in and saw everyone working so hard, I just knew this was where I would be the best supported. It was, and still is such a bright, vibrant place full of education and wonder.
✨My Ah Hah moments in school were (times you realized this is what you should be doing)?Where do you see yourself when you finish school?
There were two big moments. The first was with my very first return client. She told me she’d had some disappointments in the past, and I wanted to make sure she got exactly what she wanted this time. I worked hard to get her as light as she hoped for, and when I caught her smiling in the mirror during her after photos, it hit me—that’s why I do this. She was happy, and that made me happy.
The second moment was when I led and completed almost an entire haircut on my own. I knew what my client needed and how to help, and we even made some changes that she loved. The smile on her face was so genuine, and my educator looked at me like she knew I could do it all along—because she’s always believed in me, even when I doubt myself. That moment made me realize how much I’ve grown and how much I love what I do.
✨Where do you see yourself when you finish school?
When I finish school, I want to keep making people feel beautiful and confident. I plan to continue my education and never stop learning—I want no limits. I’ve fallen in love with both vivid colors and natural tones, so I hope to explore both sides and keep pushing my creativity. I’ll also be taking more IIC classes because I’ve always been a “jack of all trades,” and I plan to keep that tradition alive.
✨What advice would you give someone looking into Cosmetology school?
“Follow your heart, not just your mind.” Cosmetology has given me some of the greatest friends I’ve ever had but remember—it’s still school. You’ll have homework, quizzes, and long days, but you’ll also make unforgettable memories. You’ll cry, get frustrated, and laugh so hard you must run to the bathroom because you’re about to pee your pants. There is stress and anxiety, but oh my gosh—it’s so worth it. Every challenge, every moment—it’s all worth it.
